Welcome to the Society for Hematopathology!
Dear Colleagues,
The Society for Hematopathology’s focus on Education is a central tenet of our expanding mission. An important way to educate the health care team about our research and discoveries is through major meetings and conferences. Drs. Michele Paessler, Alexandra Kovach, Robert Lorsbach and David Grier are preparing an outstanding SH/EA4HP Workshop being held in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 4-6, 2025, entitled "Hematopathology in the Pediatric and Adolescent/Young Adult Populations".
The Experimental Hematopathology Scientific Symposium will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday September 3, 2025, on the afternoon prior to the Workshop, organized by Christopher Park and team members of the SH Experimental Pathology Committee. This program is leading the way in cultivating talent and preparing future leaders in health care and research.
In recent months, we have advanced several programs that are translating scientific discoveries to diagnostic hematopathology. Drs. Wenbin Xiao and Sarah Ondrejkae have organized an excellent SH Companion meeting on Sunday afternoon entitled "Advancements in genomic tools and discoveries in hematologic malignancies" at the USCAP in Boston, MA on March 23, 2025.
Drs. Yaso Natkuman, Mohamed Salama and colleagues of the International Outreach Committee (SH-IOC) initiated a group meeting with the University of Cairo and Egyptian Society of Clinical Pathology members on May 26, 2024. The team discussed the possibility of a workshop in conjunction with the Annual Egyptian Society of Hematology Meeting on February 12-13, 2025.
We attended the 2024 American Board of Pathology/Cooperating Societies meeting May 5-6, 2024. The focus of the meeting was on in-training assessment modules. We presented recommendations by SH members Drs. Robert Hasserjian, Elizabeth Courville, Chair of the Education Committee and James Cook.
I hope to see you at the European Association for Haematopathology (EA4HP)/SH Workshop in Dubrovnik, Croatia on September 21-26, 2024 and share in the significant developments of our partnership.
Drs. Robert Hasserjian, Stefan Dirnhofer, EA4HP President and I met on
June 11th with Dr. Dilani Lokuhetty, Head of the WHO Classification of Tumours
Programme and Dr. Joseph Khoury, Chair Member of the WHO Classification of Tumours Standing Editorial Board.
Many thanks to our EXCO Committee Chairs and members and to SPLTrak for making the SH/EA4HP such a special place to learn. It is an honor and a privilege to serve you.
Sincerely,
Carlos E. Bueso-Ramos
