Director of Hematopathology - University of Miami


The administration of UHealth, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) is seeking a full-time faculty position at the level of Associate/Professor in the Department of Pathology to be the Director of Hematopathology Division. We are committed to the continued development of the hematopathology program and would like to provide the compensation and resources to ensure the growth under the future Director of Hematopathology leadership.

University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Applicants should be board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology, sub specialty trained and board certified in hematopathology, and have a clinical, academic and leadership record of accomplishment in hematopathology. Additional training or experience in Molecular Diagnostics or Flow Cytometry is highly desirable. The ideal candidate for this position will have strong leadership skills focusing in team building and institutional integration. In addition, the Director of Hematopathology will have clinical and translational research responsibilities, and is expected to play an active role in teaching and training pathology residents and hematopathology fellows. This position will join a highly interactive team of four hematopathologists and two fellows.

Approximately, we review 1,800 bone marrow biopsies per year, about 3,000 tissue specimens, 3,500 flow cytometry cases and almost 3,000 peripheral blood smears. In fact, the volume and the complexity of our hematopathology cases has steadily increased during the las 4 years and is expected to increase in the years to come. We are also interested in consolidating our ongoing translational research efforts with the goal of developing a successful and productive translational research activity in hematopathology in the next few years.
