The Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital is recruiting a Hematopathologist. The Department is the exclusive provider of pathology services for the Houston Methodist Hospital System (HMHS) which has eight hospitals in the greater Houston area. HMHS currently has more than 2,200 beds and continues to actively expand within the greater Houston area.
Hematopathology at HMHS is centralized service based at Houston Methodist Hospital, our quaternary care 1000-bed flagship hospital located in the Texas Medical Center. Diagnostic services including morphology, flow cytometry, molecular characterization including NGS panels when appropriate, and immunohistochemistry are performed and unified reports are generated. The service is expanding and the successful candidate will become a staff member of a collegial and collaborative team of 5 other experienced Hematopathologists. In addition to providing clinical service, our faculty educate pathology residents and Hematopathology Fellows. The Texas Medical Center has a vibrant, interactive and collegial Hematopathology culture that extends across many institutions.
Interested candidates should have a proven track record of providing outstanding Hematopathology service, working effectively with departmental colleagues and other medical staff members, laboratory technical personnel, and hospital administration. Opportunities exist for collaborative research interactions and other academic endeavors. Opportunities also exist for clinical work in additional areas of clinical pathology. Priority will be given to candidates with interest in Pathology Analytics, broadly defined, or another relevant area of laboratory medicine.
Candidates will be pathologists with an MD or MD/PhD, BC in both clinical pathology and anatomic pathology, and BC in Hematopathology. Except under unusual circumstances, candidates should have at least 3 years of experience providing Hematopathology service. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Texas medical license. The successful candidate will be eligible for a faculty appointment in Houston Methodist’s Institute for Academic Medicine and Weill Cornell Medical College, Houston Methodist’s primary academic affiliate.
