The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking two full-time clinical hematopathologists to join the Clinical Hematopathology service. This position is at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series, which emphasizes strong commitment to clinical service and teaching. Clinical/translational research or other creative scholarly activities would be expected for applicants in the Clinical X series. Applicants must hold either an M.D. or equivalent degree with eligibility for California medical licensure and board certification in Anatomic and/or Clinical Pathology. Subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Hematopathology is also required, with clinical hematopathology fellowship training at the time of appointment.

The successful candidate will be a member of a team performing over 3000 bone marrow and lymph node biopsy interpretations annually. Candidates will also participate in the Hematology service that provides interpretation of blood smears, hematology testing and coagulation evaluations. Expertise in diagnostic flow cytometry is required.

Candidates will also be required to play a significant role in teaching fellows, pathology residents and medical students. Development of translational and collaborative research projects in leukemia, lymphoma or hematology as well as quality improvement projects is a long-term goal of these positions. Salary and title will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience and training.
